Twenty-three-year-old pop star Selena Gomez recently kicked off her Revival tour looking incredible as always. It’s not difficult to believe that she’s the most followed person on Instagram with her envy-enducing bikini shots and legs-for-days photos. While the former Disney Channel star regularly maintains a healthy lifestyle, it wasn’t until a couple months ago when she really got serious about fitness. From working with a personal trainer to getting better at staying hydrated, she revealed in her Vogue interview what it took to prep for her six-month-long tour. Read ahead to see how she got ready — you’ll be surprised to learn what she struggles with most.
On buckling down: “I’ve never really had a personal trainer, but I started working with Amy [Rosoff Davis] last year. She’s incredible; I met her at Ballet Bodies in LA, and we have a really fun friendship. About a month and a half ago is when I really buckled down, and at the moment, I’m training every day to build my stamina up for the tour. But don’t get me wrong — it was not like this before the tour [laughs].”

On working on her breathing: “Once we started rehearsing, I was doing Pilates, SoulCycle, every form of yoga. Basically, I wanted to mix things up because I get bored easily. I just try to keep it fresh. I love how Pilates makes me feel, like it opens me up. I have the hardest time breathing, weirdly enough. Even when I have conversations, I need to work on my breathing, so it’s something I enjoy because it’s peaceful and it helps me relax. And I’m doing two shows back to back [today], and that’s cardio in itself.”
On drinking water: “I always have water, tons of water. It’s even in my bathroom because I used to be so bad at drinking water and I want to stay hydrated. I have a juicer I’m staring at right now, so I always have my vegetables and my fruit for the juicer. I do two carrots, ginger, I do one piece of celery — I know, that’s lame, but one — and then half of a beet. Those are the things I always keep around.”
